Job Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited LPN/LNV school of nursing. Valid LPN/LVN license in the state of employment. Valid CPR certification. One year of nursing experience preferred. Job Functions Documents the resident’s condition and nursing needs. Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders. Assigns nursing care to team members in accordance with resident needs and staff qualifications. Supervises, directs, and evaluates junior staff members and CNAs. Administers medications and performs treatments, documenting care as required by company and regulatory rules. Participates in orientation and in‑service training for personnel. Ensures supplies are utilized economically and equipment is clean and maintained safely. Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents. Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments. Interviews applicants and recommends hires; participates in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff to extent permitted by state practice act. Supervises nursing unit, scheduling and directing staff to extent permitted by state practice act. Assures inventory and supplies are maintained; communicates needs for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary assistance. Performs other tasks as assigned. Effective communication with residents and families, and at all organizational levels. Decisive and quick reaction in emergency situations. Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
