Labor & Delivery Registered NurseThe Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN monitors maternal and fetal well-being, assists with deliveries and procedures, and collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective care.Key Responsibilities:Assess and monitor maternal and fetal conditions throughout labor and delivery.Monitor fetal heart rate, contractions, vital signs, and other clinical indicators.Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as ordered.Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal and cesarean deliveries.Provide care during labor induction, augmentation, and other obstetric procedures.Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or fetal complications and emergencies.Assist with emergency interventions and neonatal resuscitation when required.Provide immediate postpartum care and monitor for complications.Support breastfeeding, newborn care, and patient education.Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team.Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and hospital policies.Participate in quality-improvement and emergency preparedness activities.Qualifications:Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.Nursing degree from an accredited program.Current BLS certification.NRP and ACLS may be required depending on facility requirements.Previous Labor & Delivery/OB experience preferred.Required Skills:Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills.Knowledge of labor, delivery, postpartum, and obstetric emergencies.Ability to recognize changes in maternal and fetal status quickly.Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.Work Schedule:12-hour shifts are common.May include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call requirements.
