About the Position

# Job Opportunity – Surgical Oncology Nurse – Texas

Start Date: August 24, 2026

Location: Plano, Texas

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts with rotating every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month. Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Patient ratio approximately 1:5 to 1:6.

• 30-bed Surgical Oncology unit with a 50% medical-surgical patient mix
• Collaborative team environment with approximately 48 nurses, PCTs, and unit coordinators per shift
• Work with modern equipment including Baxter pumps, SCD machines, Mobilab, and glucometers
• EMR system: Meditech
• Opportunities to develop specialized skills in chemotherapy administration and oncology nursing
• Float coverage to Medical Oncology and Medical-Surgical units as needed

• Active Texas RN license or compact state license with ability to obtain Texas licensure
• Current BLS certification required
• Strong communication skills and compassionate patient care approach are essential
• IV insertion skills preferred
• Chemotherapy certification or willingness to obtain preferred
• Experience with medication administration, chest tube management, NGT management, and Foley catheter management
• Ability to adhere to attendance policies and work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
