Journeyman Heavy Diesel Equipment MechanicCopper River Technologies is seeking an experienced Journeyman Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic to support maintenance operations for NAVFAC in Crane, Indiana. This position supports the Navy's 3M Maintenance Program and is responsible for independently performing preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles, construction equipment, generators, and support systems in a mission-driven environment.The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting and repair experience involving diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy construction equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on heavy and light vehicles and equipment in accordance with Navy 3M Maintenance Program requirementsDiagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical componentsConduct routine maintenance services including oil changes, fluid replacements, brake repairs, tire repair/replacement, and electrical troubleshootingInspect, test, and repair heavy tracked and wheeled construction equipmentComplete and maintain accurate maintenance documentation and 3M work reportsResearch and identify required repair parts and provide ordering information to Government personnelEnsure all repairs meet quality standards with minimal rework requiredFollow all safety, environmental, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirementsSupport maintenance scheduling, technical evaluations, and project coordination activitiesCoordinate effectively with Government personnel, project managers, and team membersMaintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and safe conditionPerform work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditionsMechanics may support maintenance and repair of equipment including:HMMWVs and MTVRsBulldozers, graders, and front-end loadersKALMAR Rough Terrain Cargo Handlers (RTCH)ForkliftsBuses, vans, pickups, and SUVsGenerators and light plantsOther gasoline- and diesel-powered equipmentEssential Job Qualifications and Requirements:Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain required access credentials as neededEducation and Certifications: Ability to successfully complete Navy 3M Maintenance Program training; Valid driver's license requiredRequired Experience: Journeyman-level experience as a Heavy Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic; Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and gasoline-powered equipment; Experience working on heavy tracked and wheeled construction equipmentRequired Skill and Competencies Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems; Strong understanding of safety and environmental compliance procedures; Working knowledge of:Diesel and gasoline internal combustion enginesHydraulicsMechanical systemsElectrical systemsBrakes and steering systemsGenerators and electrical equipmentMaterial-handling and construction equipmentWork Environment Work is primarily performed indoors in maintenance bays, with occasional outdoor work required; Exposure to varying weather conditions and loud equipment environments; Shared workspace environment with Government personnel; Safety-sensitive environment requiring strict adherence to PPE and safety protocolsPhysical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment components; Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods; Ability to work around loud equipment and machineryAbout Copper River & The Native Village of Eyak:Owned by the Native Village of Eyak (NVE), a federally recognized Alaska Native Tribe, the Copper River Family of Companies are a collection of entities that deliver a complementary set of solutions and services to support the diverse missions and requirements of our clients.
