Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant OperatorSeeking a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to perform daily operation and maintenance tasks at a water/wastewater treatment plant, including equipment maintenance, quality control testing, and process monitoring on an assigned shift. This role typically holds, or is working toward, an intermediate-level water/wastewater treatment certification.Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hourKey Responsibilities:Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluentMonitor gauges, meters, and control panelsObserve variations in operating conditions and interpret meter/gauge readingsOperate valves and gates manually or by remote controlStart and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control treatment processesMaintain shift logs and record meter/gauge readingsCollect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analysesPerform routine maintenance and custodial dutiesMake operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnelFollow oral and written instructionsMaintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of workPerform other duties as requiredRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDFlorida Class C Wastewater License, or Class C Water License and willing to obtain wastewater certificationOne year of experience operating water/wastewater treatment plantsValid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with water/wastewater treatment plant operations, including valves, pumps, and motorsKnowledge of bacteriological and chemical sewage analysis principlesUnderstanding of industrial waste effects on treatment processesSafe work practices
