Welder - 3rd Shift

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Welder – 3rd Shift. The hourly rate for this position is $27.90 per hour. Shift hours: Saturday‑Wednesday 11 pm – 7 am; Thursday 10 pm – 6 am. Primary Function Operate various types of welding equipment for general repair work and production work. Tasks include patching leaks on oil‑filled units, repairing painted parts, welding radiators to tanks, and welding on covers and field returns. Essential Functions Fabrication rework on tanks and parts required by NCRs and ECNs using all available engineering information. Correct fabrication errors from Weidematic tapes or machine errors. Rework field‑return tanks and parts; cut covers using air‑air process or grinding stone, purge units with nitrogen to reduce explosion risk. Use all weld fabrication equipment: oxy‑acetylene torch, plasma arc torch, TIG welder, MIG welder, stick electrode welder, stud welder, arc‑air machine, iron worker, power hacksaw, vacuum pump, sabre saw, grinders, drills, and any special tooling required. Operate material‑handling equipment: bridge crane, jib crane, gas and electric lift trucks, and hand trucks as necessary. Repair leaks on oil‑filled units, drawing vacuum to equalize pressure if required. Weld radiators and lightning arrester brackets to transformers, requiring fitting and alignment. Weld covers to Terra Tran and power units, performing pressure tests using air and soap. Perform internal tank repair work with core and coil assemblies, ensuring no debris enters the unit; proceed only with supervisor approval. Specialized Knowledge Work from basic prints, computer readouts, written and verbal instructions, and material lists, using judgment when full prints are unavailable. Weld mild and stainless steel parts (gauge 16 ga. to 1 in.), maintain hand‑and‑eye coordination for uniform welds. Weld in all positions – standing, kneeling, squatting, laying, and bending. Some parts are heavy or awkward; mechanical power devices may be required. Exposure to smoke, fumes, flash burns, and cuts/burns is possible. Safety & Work Expectations Follow established working procedures. Be responsible for own work under minimal supervision. Meet or exceed quality and quantity standards. Keep work area clean and orderly. Contribute suggestions for methods or product improvement. Basic Qualifications One year technical diploma in MIG and arc welding or equivalent experience.
