Position: Director of Charter School (K-8)

Primary Purpose:
The Director provides visionary instructional leadership that ensures equitable outcomes for all students. Key areas of responsibility include:

• Leading curriculum, instruction, and assessment aligned with Oregon state standards
• Managing school operations within approved budget parameters
• Creating and sustaining a school culture conducive to learning, belonging, and staff professional growth
• Ensuring compliance with the OTA Charter Contract, OTA Bylaws, the Oregon Nonprofit Corporation Act (ORS Ch. 65), ORS Chapter 338, and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations
• Building strong relationships with families, the community, and the Oregon Trail School District as authorizing sponsor

Qualifications:

Education & Licensure

• Master's degree in Educational Administration, Education, or a closely related field required
• Oregon Administrative License (or equivalent out-of-state license) highly preferred; candidates with a license currently in process are encouraged to apply
• Valid driver's license, evidence of insurability, and Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance required

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a classroom teacher and/or building-level administrator
• Experience in K 8 or elementary settings strongly preferred
• Charter school leadership or nonprofit governance experience is a plus

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment frameworks for K 8 education
• Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness using data
• Demonstrated skills in budget management, personnel supervision, and school operations
• Familiarity with nonprofit governance, charter school law (ORS Ch. 338), and Oregon Nonprofit Corporation Act obligations (ORS Ch. 65)
• Strong organizational, communication (oral and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data and draw valid, actionable conclusions
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse audiences including a governing Board
• Proficiency with technology including MS Office, Google Workspace, and student information systems
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive educational practices
• Ability to build collaborative consensus and serve as a leader-coach to teachers and staff

Salary Range: Dependent upon experience
