Student Worker- DeLaMare Makerspace Wrangler

About the Role Maker Wrangler You will be a full‑fledged member of the DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library team. Your responsibilities include operating makerspace equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, vinyl cutters, vacuum formers, sewing machines, and machining tools while providing outstanding customer service and maintaining a safe environment. Responsibilities Day‑to‑day operation of the makerspace. Provide initial hands‑on training for all new users of makerspace resources. Assist patrons in utilizing all pieces of equipment. Conduct one‑on‑one consultations on 3D modeling, 3D scanning, and project design implementation. Develop and deliver workshops on a variety of makerspace‑related topics. Uphold established safety guidelines within the makerspace. Utilize creativity and problem‑solving skills to complete specialty projects. Qualifications Current student at the University of Nevada, Reno (open to all majors). Proficient with computers and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with 3D printers, laser cutters, hand tools, and other makerspace equipment. Previous customer service experience. Strong curiosity about how things work. Willingness to learn new processes, software, and equipment quickly and accurately. Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures. Knowledge of 3D modeling (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, OnShape, Fusion 360), slicing software (Cura, Preform), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), PCB design (EAGLE), CNC toolpath (Vcarve), and embroidery software (Artist Digitizer). Schedule 10–20 hours per week during library normal business hours: Monday–Friday 8:00AM–8:00PM, Sunday 10:00AM–6:00PM. Weekend and evening hours are expected. Training will occur during the weeks of July6–10 and July13–17, Monday to Friday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Successful candidates must be available for this two‑week training session.
