And 1 weekend every 4th weekend.At St. Joseph's Health the Surgical Services Department records more than 11,000 surgeries annually in our state-of-art operating rooms providing a full range of surgical services, offering care for ambulatory, elective, and critically ill patients. The PACU is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe transitions between preoperative and post-anesthesia care phases.What you will do :Assess and prepare patients for surgery, including reviewing medical history and administering preoperative medications. Monitor patients in the Pre-Op area, ensuring they are stable and ready for surgery.Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, monitoring vital signs and assessing for complications.Educate patients and families on post-operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.Minimum Qualifications:Education : Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduate preferred.Licensure : Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in New York.Certification : BLS/CPR. CNOR or CPAN certification a plus.Experience: Minimum of 1- 2 years' experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or Surgical/Perioperative NursingWork Schedule:Full time – 40 Hour Day/Evening Rotating ShiftMinistry/Facility Information:St. Joseph's Health is a regional non-profit health care system based in Syracuse, NY. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
