Responsibilities Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs. Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport. Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement. Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs. Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance. Manages student behavior in the classroom using effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures. Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement. Ensures health and safety of students, protecting equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains confidential records, inquiries, and data securely. Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required. Performs any other duties as assigned. Planning and Organizing Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, integrates changes smoothly, sets goals and objectives, and works in an organized manner. Language and Cognitive Skills Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; responds to inquiries; writes speeches; presents to managers, the public, and school board. Mathematical Skills Works with math concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry; applies fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Solves practical problems, deals with a variety of concrete variables, and interprets instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs. Physical Demands Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting up to 10 pounds. Reaching with both hands, overhead. Noise Intensity: moderate.
