Job Title: Med Surg RN Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: License required to submit Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Passed a skills exam during orientation Description: The unit has 42 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6. Staff will take a 1:6 ratio at least once a week. Common diagnoses include medical, surgical, and orthopedic conditions. There is a charge nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse carries an assignment. No titratable drips are used except for Heparin. Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours on the floor. The facility has centralized telemetry monitoring. Nurse aids and patient care technicians are present with a ratio of 1:10-12. Shifts are scheduled from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Weekend and holiday work may be required as needed. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Floating to PCU or Burn may be required. Scrub color is navy blue. Unit-specific orientation will be provided during the first week. Requests for time off should be submitted in advance. Additional requests for time off will not be approved after submissions. The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using the EPIC system. A BSN is required for this position.
