Control Panel TechnicianThe Control Panel Technician assembles, wires, and builds electrical control panels using wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and production documentation. This role involves electrical wiring and rewiring, using a variety of hand and power tools, and working with components such as soft starts, breakers, relays, pilot lights, VFDs, HMIs, and operators. The technician interprets electrical engineering drawings and work instructions to produce high-quality control panels in a clean, temperature-controlled environment.ResponsibilitiesAssemble electrical control panels based on wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.Interpret and follow electrical engineering drawings, work instructions, and production documentation to complete panel builds accurately.Perform electrical wiring and rewiring of control panels, ensuring neat, organized, and code-compliant work.Install and wire control panel components, including soft starts, breakers with interlocks, relays, pilot lights, operators, VFDs, and HMIs.Use basic hand and power tools such as wire strippers, screwdrivers, drills, saws, cable cutters, torque wrenches, squares, and tape measures to perform assembly and installation tasks.Operate shop equipment including drill and tap tools, jigsaws, band saws, and belt sanders as needed for panel fabrication.Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to determine layout, routing, and connections for panel wiring.Verify wiring connections and component placement against drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy and functionality.Collaborate with a team of technicians to meet production schedules and quality standards.Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and best practices when working with electrical components and tools.Essential SkillsProven experience in control panel assembly or installation.Experience wiring and building control panels with components such as soft starts, breakers with interlocks, relays, pilot lights, and operators.For more advanced roles, experience wiring and building control panels that include PLCs, VFDs, soft starts, HMIs, breakers with interlocks, relays, pilot lights, and operators.Ability to interpret and follow electrical engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and production documentation.Hands-on experience using tools such as wire strippers, screwdrivers, drills, saws, cable cutters, torque wrenches, squares, tape measures, drill and tap tools, jigsaws, band saws, and belt sanders.Exposure to blueprint and schematic reading for electrical projects.Experience working with electrical wiring, panel wiring, and control panel building.Experience level of approximately 35 years for intermediate technician roles.Experience level of approximately 46 years for senior technician roles.Additional Skills & QualificationsBackground in solar installation, commercial or residential electrical work, or entry-level maintenance is highly beneficial.Familiarity with troubleshooting control panel components such as soft starts, relays, pilot lights, and breakers is an advantage for some roles.Comfort working with HMIs, VFDs, PLCs, and other advanced control components is preferred for higher-level technician positions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable electrical panels.Ability to work effectively as part of a small, collaborative team.Willingness to follow established processes, documentation, and safety procedures.Why Work Here?You will join a skilled and supportive team in a clean, temperature-controlled environment that values quality craftsmanship and precision. You will work as part of a team of approximately 12 technicians in a professional shop environment focused on electrical control panel assembly. The work involves regular use of hand and power tools, including wire strippers, screwdrivers, drills, saws, cable cutters, torque wrenches, squares, tape measures, drill and tap tools, jigsaws, band saws, and belt sanders. The setting emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to documented processes while providing a comfortable and tidy workspace.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Largo, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.84 - $25.19/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
