Archaeological Field Technician

The Opportunity We have immediate openings for temporary Archaeological Field Technicians to work in Arizona based out of our Tempe or Tucson office. What We Offer Compensation – This position is paid on an hourly basis between $24 - $26 per hour, depending on experience and education. Per diem, for hotel-based projects and for camping-based projects, will be provided for all non-local fieldwork. Logan Simpson will provide single-occupancy hotel rooms for all hotel-based projects. Benefits – Temporary staff members are eligible for paid sick leave, 8 paid holidays, eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association), and for eligible temporary staff members, the firm offers a $150 field gear stipend and a retention bonus program. Your Key Responsibilities Work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors. Work outdoors in extreme temperatures. Identify archaeological artifacts and features. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology and/or completion of an accredited field school; applicants without these credentials will also be considered. Education and/or experience in the U.S. Southwest, especially the Hohokam region (is a plus). Experience conducting fieldwork in a cultural resource management setting, especially archaeological excavation. Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time. Ability to work in remote locations. Proficiency with electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets for digital data collection. A valid driver’s license and willingness to carpool and travel to out-of-town job sites.
