You will be the technical bridge between fleet data, field failures, and engineering teams, diagnosing complex failure modes, leading root cause investigations, and driving corrective actions that improve performance for hundreds of thousands of customers. This is a high-impact, hands-on role with direct visibility to senior leadership.You'llwork across the full stack: interpreting telemetry and debugging hardware in the field, writing Python scripts that analyze fleet-wide failure patterns andleveragingAI tools to accelerate diagnostics and documentation.As the owner of fleet health from a product performance perspective,you'llhelp shape the future of Tesla's residential energy hardware.
What You'll Do

• ProductOwnership: Serve as the primary technical point of contact and subject matter expert forresidential battery and energy storage products, systems, and subsystems. Developalgorithms,procedures, guidelines,andtechnical documentation to enable cross-functional teams
• Complex Problem Solving: Investigate challenging product and system issues using first-principles analysis toidentifyroot causes. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and deploy firmware and hardware solutions, then measure the efficacy of implemented fixes
• DiagnosticDevelopment andOwnership: Develop, own, andmaintainall service diagnostics for global residential energy products. Automate diagnostics to enable deployment at scale across the fleet
• FleethealthManagement: Define andmonitorfleet reliability KPIs and battery performance metricstomaintainoptimalfleet health. Use SQL and Python(NumPy, Pandas, or similar)to query fleet logs, proactivelyidentifysystemic performance gaps, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Executive Reporting: Authorregular technical reports summarizing failure trends, countermeasure effectiveness, and actionable insights. Communicate complex technical findings clearly and concisely to executive leadership
• AI & Advanced Tooling: Leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate code generation, test automation, documentation development, and diagnostic reasoning

What You'll Bring

• Degreein engineering,computerscienceor equivalentexperience
• Strong analytical skills withproficiencyin SQL and Python for large-scale data analysis
• Experience with power electronics, electrical design, or failure analysis on products involving power converters, inverters, or control systems
• Proven hands-on experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes) to troubleshoot and debug hardware
• Demonstrated experience with AI/LLM tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in engineering workflows to accelerate coding, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving
• Experience leading orparticipatingin 8D or similar structured failure analysis processes, from identification through countermeasure implementation and monitoring
• Experience with reliability engineering methodologies (FMEA, DFMEA, FTA) andstatisticalanalysisof fleet/field data toidentifyfailure modes, evaluate product reliability, and drive improvements in battery systems or power electronics
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to produce clear, concise written documentation
• Strong communicationskills for cross-functional collaboration
• Work travel is expected to be <5% in this job. This could include traveling to lab sites, customer sites,our manufacturingfacilities, etc.

Expected Compensation $100,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
