Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Unit position requiring at least one year of nursing experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Medicine Specialty Unit caring for patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex
• Day shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours per week)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Proficiency in nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing an assigned patient group, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and assisting physicians with examinations and minor procedures
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
• Collaborates with patients and families on care planning, discharge education, and hospital procedures
• Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new contract (prior contracts are limited to one extension, totaling no more than 26 weeks, unless otherwise agreed upon)
• Compliance with pre-employment requirements (drug screen, background check, and medical requirements) must be completed promptly after offer acceptance; the facility enforces strict compliance deadlines and will not negotiate start dates
