Principal Project Engineer - Bridge

Role Description

Parsons is looking for a talented Principal Project Engineer - Bridge to join our team full-time to support one of the many large transformative transportation projects that we have either won, are currently pursuing, or will pursue across the nation.

• Some of the larger projects are located in the states of:
  • Tennessee
  • Georgia
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Indiana
• Help deliver the design for projects that have a construction value greater than $1 billion.
• Assist in enhancing the mobility, safety, and reliability for communities who live along and travel through these critical corridors.
• This position is remote, with flexibility in work location while supporting virtual collaboration with Parsons teams.

These high-visibility Design-Build and Public Private Partnership "P3" projects offer complex, challenging work for our entire professional staff and new hires, who work seamlessly together from offices across the country.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Developing the scope of work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned bridge project elements, and monitoring progress to meet schedule/budget requirements.
• Performing conventional and complex (long-span, post-tensioned, cable-stayed, or highly skewed) bridge engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Interfacing with Procurement and Subcontracts to facilitate coordination with vendors/subcontractors.
• Participating in quantity analysis to help determine project costs.
• Reviewing and directing the use of applicable design criteria, codes, standards, and procedures in development of project documents.
• Monitoring productivity and technical proficiency of assigned personnel for task completion.
• Coordinating allocation of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the project and assigning personnel from other technical support groups.
• Assisting the Project Manager in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project or study.
• Participating in definition of the technical skills and staff hours required for successful completion of the project.
• Ensuring client criteria/scope are met by all engineering disciplines.
• Expediting distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the client/Project Manager.
• Understanding the client's business goals to enhance the project work.
• Preparing technical calculations, reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management.
• Acting as Project Manager's deputy for certain activities, such as attending meetings in his/her absence.
• Mentoring technical staff in their career development.
• Obtaining, analyzing, and circulating technical and contractual information to project disciplines.
• Reviewing and approving change orders and notifying project management and other affected personnel of all changes.
• Participating regularly in decision-making meetings with the client and project management.
• Providing oversight and quality control reviews of project documents.
• Leading task force meetings for project development.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer License required.
• Qualified to serve as a Bridge Design Task Lead on projects.
• 12-15+ years of bridge engineering experience.
• Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis.
• Previous supervisory experience in a project engineering role.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills with thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Experience in development of RFP responses for traditional public sector work.
• Thorough understanding of current technology and ability to appropriately apply engineering software for project use.
