Commercial Underwriter

An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal account risks. The incumbent manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention. The underwriter initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits. The person in this position provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium. Qualifications At least three years commercial underwriting experience in all business lines Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications. Experience with loss sensitive rating programs. CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred. Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required. Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written. Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills. Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business, or equivalent experience preferred. Expected salary for the mid-level underwriting level position is $76,000 to $95,000. Salary is based on experience and education. The expected salary range for this position is 88,000.00-109,900.00. This salary range depends on experience, education, and location for this specific position. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
