Job Description:

This position is employed by Intermountain Health, a corporate sponsor of BYU Athletics. Support provided will be divided between 50% BYU Running and Intermountain Health Clinic 50%.

Join Intermountain Health as a Sports and Ortho Physical Therapist, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to support BYU Running athletes while also treating a diverse outpatient orthopedic population with our Lehi Clinic . This role offers a dynamic mix of sports performance and rehabilitation, allowing you to work alongside highly motivated runners and active individuals while delivering evidence-based orthopedic care. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a supportive, patient-centered environment focused on helping individuals return to peak performance and everyday function.

Job Essentials

  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service standards.

  • This position adds onsite physical therapy for BYU Runners, leveraging Intermountain’s proven, evidence-based expertise in injury prevention and athlete rehabilitation.

  • This position will utilize technology such as Kangatech, Hawkins dynamic force plates, Kinexon, 1080 sprint, Delos and vuemotion to guide decision-making in the return to play process. These will help develop return to play plans and protocols for team sport athletes.

  • Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer to collect and maintain accurate medical injury reports in Smartabase EMR, support the return-to-play process alongside strength and conditioning coaches and sports staff, and provide coaches and performance staff with timely daily player availability updates.

  • Develop and deliver individual athlete injury reduction programs in collaboration with Director of Strength and Conditioning and Head Athletic Trainer while assisting the Director of Strength and Conditioning Coach with weightroom exercise modifications for injured athletes.

  • Collaborate with Head Athletic Trainer and Team Orthopedics Doctors to conduct new athlete musculoskeletal screenings and also conduct post season exit musculoskeletal screenings on student-athletes.

  • Assist and collaborate with performance team in developing individualized recovery plans for student-athletes and with sports massage therapists, in conjunction with Head Athletic Trainer, regarding soft tissue and mobility treatments of student-athletes using a range of modalities and techniques.

  • We are looking for a therapist with a proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team: able to professionally communicate complex information to athletes, coaches and performance team, particularly as it relates to return to play plans and protocols.

Qualifications

  • Current Physical Therapist license in states where you work.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • Basic Computer skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$42.66 - $65.82
