Operates effectively in a quickly changing environment, balancing recurring operational rhythms with ad-hoc requests. This role is hands-on with team operations and Agile delivery rather than focused on standalone large-program management.
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Working independently with little supervision on recurring team operations.
- Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the team's day-to-day delivery cadence; errors may impact team throughput, sprint commitments, or stakeholder confidence.
- Using clear written and verbal communication to coordinate across team members, peer teams, and vendors.
- Applying structured problem solving to triage incoming requests, surface blockers, and route issues to the right owner.
- Exercising judgment to refine team processes, ceremonies, and tools to improve flow and predictability.
- Coordinate departmental and cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks, ensuring the right work gets to the right owner with clear expectations and timing.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to team members on assigned work; coach the team on Agile practices, ceremony hygiene, and continuous improvement.
- Run the team's Agile cadence : daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives keeping ceremonies focused, time-boxed, and outcome-oriented.
- Own backlog hygiene and work intake: capture new requests, ensure stories and tasks have clear acceptance criteria, and maintain prioritization with the team lead.
- Track team commitments and execution; surface slipping work early, follow up on open items, and help team members remove blockers.
- Maintain operational dashboards (Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or equivalent) so leadership and stakeholders can self-serve status.
- Manage standing operational rhythms: weekly team meetings, monthly business reviews, quarterly planning inputs, and recurring stakeholder syncs.
- Coordinate vendor and contractor task assignments and onboarding/offboarding logistics on behalf of the team.
- Make sound day-to-day decisions when faced with multi-faceted issues by weighing risks, urgency, and dependencies; escalate appropriately.
- Communicate project and operational expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely fashion; produce concise written status, risk callouts, and action-item summaries.
- Identify process friction and propose pragmatic improvements to improve flow and predictability.
- Accountability - Drives follow-through on team commitments and holds peers to agreed deliverables with tact.
- Collaboration - Builds working relationships across a mixed team of full-time employees, consultants, and vendors.
- Communication -Clear, concise written and verbal updates; strong meeting facilitation skills.
- Adaptability -Comfortable shifting between coordination, ceremony facilitation, and ad-hoc operational support.
- Organization -Keeps many small threads visible and moving; nothing falls through the cracks.
- Coaching & Motivation -Encourages and motivates team members; builds trust quickly with FTEs, consultants, and vendors.
(All competencies below are required upon entry)
- Agile / Scrum Facilitation - Practical fluency in Scrum events, artifacts, and roles; able to run effective ceremonies and coach a team that is not fully Agile-mature.
- Backlog & Work Management - Hands-on with Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or equivalent; comfortable building queries, dashboards, and reports.
- Operational Coordination - Strong at intake triage, dependency tracking, and recurring-rhythm management.
- Stakeholder Communication - Translates team activity into status visibility for non-technical and senior audiences.
- Time & Priority Management - Quickly distinguishes urgent from important; protects the team from low-value churn.
- Problem Solving - Practical, root-cause-oriented; comfortable making moderate decisions without escalation, weighing risks, uncertainties, and assumptions.
- Operating in Ambiguity - Multi-tasks effectively in a quickly changing environment; makes sound decisions with incomplete information.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I or II), or SAFe Scrum Master / SAFe Agilist certification.
- Experience supporting an IT infrastructure, datacenter, or operations team.
- Experience coordinating mixed teams of full-time employees and consultants/contractors.
- Familiarity with Kanban and scaled Agile (SAFe, LeSS, or similar).
- Lean Six Sigma exposure for process improvement.
