Field Upgrade Representative (Contract – 6 Months)

Location: New Haven CT- Northeast Region (New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts)
Pay Rate: $23.00- 26/hr hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Travel Required

A leading clean energy technology organization is seeking reliable and mechanically inclined Field Upgrade Representatives to support a large-scale equipment upgrade program across the Northeast region. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with manufacturing, assembly, automotive, HVAC, industrial maintenance, military, or hands-on mechanical experience who enjoy working independently in the field.

This role is focused on performing standardized upgrades to fuel cell system enclosures. The work is primarily mechanical in nature and involves repetitive tasks requiring attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to follow detailed work instructions.

What You'll Do

• Perform field upgrades on fuel cell module enclosures following detailed procedures and work instructions.
• Complete inspections, repairs, and modifications on enclosure components.
• Identify enclosure types and select appropriate tools and materials.
• Conduct door gap inspections and gasket repairs.
• Apply sealants and perform enclosure integrity upgrades.
• Accurately document completed work and daily productivity.
• Report completed sites, enclosure counts, and field issues to management.
• Escalate technical, safety, or site-access concerns as needed.
• Travel directly from home to assigned job sites throughout the region.
• Work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors and support teams.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.
• Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Manufacturing
  • Assembly line work
  • Automotive repair
  • HVAC
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Mechanical field service
  • Military mechanical or electrical experience
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized procedures.
• Strong communication skills and responsiveness via phone and text.
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Day-to-Day Expectations

• Complete upgrades based on the number of enclosures assigned rather than the number of sites visited.
• Travel between multiple smaller sites in a day or remain at larger sites for several days.
• Maintain daily communication with management through morning check-ins and end-of-day updates.
• Work approximately 8 hours per day, including travel time.
• Overtime may be available and approved based on project demands and travel requirements.

Travel & Territory

• Coverage area includes New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
• Typical travel radius is up to 120 miles from your home location.
• Technicians travel directly from home to customer sites.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Travel time is paid.

Training & Equipment

• Comprehensive computer-based and hands-on training provided.

• PPE provided, including:
  • Safety glasses

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working at varying heights.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to repeatedly open and close equipment enclosures.
• Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
