The Division of Infectious Disease of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine seeks applicants for a new Clinician Educator in the subspecialty of Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Infectious Diseases (Ortho/MSK). The qualified individual should be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine. The candidate must qualify for an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, and have demonstrated expertise in the management of patients with complex infectious disease. The successful candidate will participate as Clinician-Educator in the teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents and Infectious Disease fellows in inpatient and outpatient settings, will establish outpatient clinics in Ortho/MSK infectious disease and will contribute to the overall scholarly and research activities of the Division.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Teaching medical students, dental students, graduate students, allied health students, residents, fellows, and colleagues
• Research-related activities and obtaining funding for research in areas of focus consistent with the mission of the School of Medicine and Department
• Provision of clinical services in Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Infectious Diseases (Ortho/MSK)

Minimum qualifications include:

• Board eligible/board certified M.D. (or equivalent M.B.B.S or D.O.) with experience in infectious diseases or a closely related discipline
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience with Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Infectious Diseases
• Record of publication and conference dissemination demonstrating expertise in the faculty's area of research
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred qualifications include:

• Research experience with Ortho/MSK ID

Salary range is commensurate. FLSA exemption status is Exempt. ORP eligibility is No. Rank is open.
