Job Title: Landscaping Crew Member
Reports To: Crew Leader / Landscape Foreman
Job Summary The Landscaping Crew Member performs manual labor to maintain and beautify commercial and residential grounds. This role operates standard lawn care machinery and hand tools to install plants, cut grass, and maintain outdoor spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns by mowing, edging, weed-whacking, and blowing debris.
- Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf grass according to design plans.
- Apply mulch to garden beds and topsoil to lawns.
- Prune and trim hedges, and shrubs for health and appearance.
- Cleanup leaves, clear brush, and pull weeds from designated areas.
- Load and unload heavy materials, tools, and equipment from trucks.
- Clean, maintain, and safely operate all assigned landscaping power tools.
- Assist with snow removal duties during winter months using shovels or blowers.
- Follow all company safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 6 months of professional landscaping experience preferred but willing to train.
- Strong knowledge of operating lawn mowers, edgers, and string trimmers.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from the Crew Leader.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical labor.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Endurance to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, dust, and pollen.
- Frequent contact with loud machinery, requiring proper hearing protection.
