Job Title: A&P Mechanic Job Description

The A&P Mechanic works closely with the production team to install, integrate, and maintain an advanced automated aviation system on small aircraft. This role focuses on scaling processes and procedures across a growing fleet, continuously improving manufacturing, integration, and maintenance practices to meet stringent safety, quality, cost, and on-time delivery requirements. You will contribute design-for-manufacturing-and-assembly input, build and integrate systems on aircraft, and help develop the processes and infrastructure needed for the organization to scale effectively.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, diagnose, inspect, and maintain company-designed products, including line replaceable units (LRUs), harnesses, and interconnects on aircraft.

• Perform modifications, including fabrication and installation of the automated aviation system on aircraft in accordance with engineering and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct routine and non-routine inspections and maintenance to ensure aircraft safety, airworthiness, and availability.

• Maintain accurate and complete records of aircraft installations, maintenance activities, and modifications.

• Represent the production organization in design reviews and collaborate with Responsible Engineers to evaluate designs for cost, producibility, inspectability, consistency, adequacy, accuracy, and conformance to requirements.

• Ensure product and process quality by testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and developing robust manufacturing processes.

• Manage operational processes such as tool control, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controls.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, integration, and maintenance operations to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

• Contribute to the development of scalable processes and infrastructure that support fleet expansion and reliable system deployment.

Essential Skills

• Current FAA-issued Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic license.

• At least 3 years of small aircraft maintenance experience (recent graduates with a strong research and development mindset are also considered).

• Hands-on maintenance experience with turbine-engine aircraft.

• Ability to work with and maintain aircraft airframes and powerplants in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.

• Compliance with ITAR requirements.

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for aircraft systems and components.

• Experience performing inspections, repairs, and modifications on small aircraft.

• Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, maintenance manuals, and engineering documentation.

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate maintenance and modification records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to work in a self-directed manner and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• General fabrication and modification experience, including working with aircraft structures and systems.

• Experience with Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft.

• Working knowledge of Fixed Base Operator (FBO) operations and relevant regulations, including 14 CFR Part 43 and Part 145.

• Experience fabricating and modifying wire harnesses and pinning aerospace connectors.

• Private or commercial pilot experience.

• Rigging experience on Pratt & Whitney PT6A engines and associated airframes.

• Familiarity with tool control, FOD prevention, and ESD-safe work practices.

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to partner effectively with engineers and production team members.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of San Martin, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
