As Nurse Manager of this 28-bed, state-of-the-art unit in our South Tower, you’ll champion a team that delivers high-acuity hematology, gynecologic, and neuro-oncology care, supported by breakthrough therapies and a collaborative, Magnet-recognized culture. This Role Offers You the Opportunity To: Drive operational excellence by managing daily clinical and administrative functions for a high-performing team of RNs, PCAs, technicians, and clerical staff. Strategically oversee staffing, scheduling, and flex resource utilization based on patient flow and acuity. Lead with data: forecast and manage budgets, ensuring alignment with benchmarks such as Paid Hours Per Patient Day and WHPPD. Inspire a culture of quality through continuous improvement programs, patient experience initiatives, and evidence-based practice. Uphold compliance standards while advancing nursing practice through the UVA shared governance model. Recruit, develop, and retain talent through meaningful engagement, coaching, and professional development. Foster strong interdisciplinary partnerships with physicians, clinical leaders, and administrative counterparts to drive patient-centered outcomes. Successful candidates would be able to demonstrate: 5+ years of experience in Oncology Nursing in an inpatient setting Leadership experience in Oncology Nursing in an inpatient setting ONCC/ONS Oncology certification Key responsibilities include: Managing day-to-day operations of assigned patient care areas Supervising nurses and support staff, including RNs, PCAs, technicians, and clerical staff Overseeing scheduling and staffing adjustments based on patient flow Forecasting and managing the unit budget, ensuring expenditures are within limits Developing programs for quality improvement, process streamlining, and nurse performance enhancement Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements specific to the unit Providing high-quality nursing care to patients and families Building partnerships with clinicians, physicians, and administrators Promoting multidisciplinary teamwork, recruitment, performance management, and staff engagement Implementing the UVA shared governance nursing model at the unit level Performing other duties as assigned Position Compensation Range: $110,697.60 - $147,680.00 annually MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program; Master’s degree in a related field within 5 years of hire At least 3 years of progressive nursing experience in a patient care environment For Dialysis Nurse Manager: 12 months of clinical nursing experience and 6 months in dialysis care, and full-time employment at the facility Virginia RN license; AHA BLS certification; valid Virginia driver’s license if overseeing multiple locations; specialty certification within 3 years of hire PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position is primarily sedentary, involving extensive use of computers.
