Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) at the Clinical Nurse II level to join a dynamic healthcare team serving the Pacific Northwest coastal region. This role is essential in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care within an outpatient infusion setting. The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical skills, specialized certifications, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care:
  • Perform thorough patient assessments to identify individual needs and develop tailored care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and intervene as necessary.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide safe, efficient, and timely care.
  • Advocate for patients by maintaining dignity, confidentiality, and providing empathetic support.
  • Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Promote evidence-based practices in outpatient infusion therapy.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA.
  • Proactively identify and report safety concerns.
  • Support health promotion and safety initiatives.
• Documentation:
  • Accurately document patient care, interventions, and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards.
• Professional Development and Leadership:
  • Mentor and precept new graduate nurses, new hires, and students to foster professional growth.
  • Engage in continuing education and quality improvement projects.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of clinical services, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as a resource for best practices in outpatient infusion care and act as Relief Charge Nurse or Lead when needed.
• Emergency Preparedness:
  • Respond promptly and effectively to patient emergencies.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of two years as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient infusion center, oncology unit, or similar clinical environment.
• Proven ability to manage diverse patient caseloads involving common medical and surgical conditions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting requiring quick decision-making and teamwork.

Competencies

• Technical Skills: Proficient with medical equipment such as IV pumps and monitors, and skilled in medication administration.
• Critical Thinking: Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities to manage acute patient condition changes.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and five years of relevant experience in medical-surgical or equivalent settings will also be considered.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current RN license valid in the relevant U.S. region.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required.
• Preferred certifications include Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or equivalent.
