Mobile Diesel Mechanic II

Mobile Diesel Technician II – DOT Management Level Company: Cox Automotive – Cox Fleet. Remote work possible but applicant must reside in the city, state, or region specified. 100% travel required. Hourly base pay ranges from $29.42 to $44.13, with potential additional compensation such as commission or incentive programs. Job Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Diagnose and repair truck equipment, including electrical, braking, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Use handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments to inspect equipment; conduct road tests to verify proper operation. Maintain and manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company‑issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation. Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using the TRAIT application, upload photos, and record parts used and findings. Complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly. Perform safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections of the service vehicle. Maintain a high level of productivity and work independently within standard repair times. Communicate effectively with clients, customers, management, and support teams to obtain approvals, discuss estimates, and report findings. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED; alternative: any degree/certification beyond HS with 3 years of related experience, or 5 years of experience. Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. Minimum of 21 years old. Must complete DOT pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical or qualify with a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining. ASE T8 (PMI) certification required within 18 months. Proficiency with hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor and repetitive tasks. Strong written and oral communication skills for reporting and coordinating with multiple parties. Preferred Certifications ASE T3 (Drivetrain) ASE T4 (Brakes) ASE T5 (Suspension) ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems)

ASE 608/609 (Catalytic Converter) Additional Requirements Ability to travel 100% of the time and work a variable shift schedule. Must be able to work independently and manage own daily schedule. Must maintain valid DOT medical card or complete physical prior to employment. Must be a safe driver; valid state driver’s license required.
