Registered Nurse - PRN Nights - BH Adols - 13269 US:TX:Edinburg | Nursing & Education | PRN Position Summary Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders, including cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral, and performs crisis intervention. Operates within the scope of nursing practice, including diagnosis and treatment of human responses to health alterations, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other healthcare providers, and providing patient education. Must pass required competencies for the position. Required Education & Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing school required. BSN preferred. Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas. Current BLS certification. Accepts assignment to any behavioral health unit. CPI training within 30 days of hire date. Computer skills required to be effective on assigned units. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. Good written and verbal communication skills required. Proficient in English. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians. Preferred: hospital experience. Job Knowledge and Experience One to two years of experience preferred. Constant and frequent judgment and response required, including in disaster or emergency situations. Exhibits tact, enthusiasm, and patience. Excellent customer service skills required. High degree of competency and general experience. Strong communication and organizational skills. Reasoning ability and independent judgment. Responsibilities Promotes the facility’s mission, vision, and values and integrates them into patient care. Ensures care delivery complies with the Nurse Practice Act of Texas and ANA Standards. Performs nursing care using sound judgment. Implements physician orders safely and accurately. Assists with admitting, discharging, and transferring patients. Transcribes and implements new physician orders. Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to unit needs. Maintains detailed and accurate nursing records. Participates in therapeutic counseling and emotional support. Makes rounds on assigned patients and prioritizes their needs. Maintains a safe and clean environment. Provides and receives shift reports. Administers medication and therapies within safe nursing practice. Formulates, modifies, and implements goal‑oriented patient care plans. Reports clinical limitations or need for assistance to supervisors. Performs duties as assigned. Abides by Board of Nurse Examiners regulations. Adheres to policies and procedures that guide patient care. Informs charge nurse of anticipated or actual issues/problems. Stays current with policy updates. Provides direction to non‑licensed nursing staff. Anticipates potential problems and intervenes. Co‑ordinates schedules to provide coverage.
