Food Scientist I – Nylabone, Pet Segment Location: Neptune City, NJ Responsibilities Conduct research and product development activities on consumable pet chew products for Nylabone and IMS products. Process concepts from idea to final production startup, including new technology development and its application to extruded and injection molded products. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and regulatory teams to develop product concepts. Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory to commercialize products, develop product specifications, and arrange for guaranteed analysis. Review packaging proof for package weight, ingredients, guarantee analysis, and claims, and participate in the package review process. Source raw materials based on requirements. Develop formulas and prototypes. Conduct analytical tests, shelf‑life studies, and clinical trials for prototypes. Compile documentation needed for compliance with applicable regulations and company policies. Conduct product testing to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Identify and develop continuous manufacturing process improvements for efficiency and product quality. Ensure best practices are followed in compliance with regulations and company policies. Stay current on pet food industry trends and communicate findings to management. Qualifications B.S. or higher degree in Food Science or related discipline. Previous product development experience in the food or pet food industry. Working knowledge of FDA, USDA, AFFCO, and related regulations. Experience using Design of Experiments, statistical analysis, and ability to interpret results. Detail oriented, organized, and strong communication skills.
