Quality Inspector Requirements & Skills

6–12 months of experience as a Quality Inspector or similar manufacturing role preferred. Experience in machine shop, assembly, cleanroom, or semiconductor environments is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Experience using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, rulers, gauges). Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical testing tools such as multimeters and megohmmeters. Experience with MRP systems (SAP or similar software) preferred. Strong math skills and the ability to perform accurate measurements and calculations. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical problem-solving skills. Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding inspection tasks. Ability to lift to 75 lbs. occasionally and work in a manufacturing environment with PPE. High School Diploma or GED required; technical coursework or associate degree preferred.

Quality Inspector Responsibilities & Job Duties

Perform incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspections on raw materials, components, and finished products. Measure parts and assemblies using precision tools, including calipers, micrometers, rulers, and optical comparators. Inspect mechanical, electrical, and fabricated components for compliance with specifications. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, BOMs, GD&T, and technical specifications. Document inspection results and generate detailed quality reports and nonconformance records. Verify documentation accuracy and ensure compliance with manufacturing requirements. Support internal departments, suppliers, and customers regarding quality issues. Perform basic CMM measurements and inspections as required. Use electronic testing equipment such as multimeters and megohmmeters when applicable. Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant manufacturing work environment.
