Position Overview

Our organization is currently inviting applications for the role of Director of the Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Medicine. Situated in Cleveland, OH, we are in search of a seasoned physician who has demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, leadership, and growth. The selected Director will collaborate closely with the Chair of Medicine to advance the clinical, educational, and research objectives of the Division. Ideal candidates will possess a national reputation for excellence in clinical care, teaching, and/or research. Our division is affiliated with Case Western Reserve University and serves as a site for the CWRU Clinical Science and Translational Award.

Faculty members are actively involved in the internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship programs at our facility. The fellows are responsible for inpatient care and consultation services at our hospital. Clinical research plays a vital role within the Division and the organization as a whole.

• The Director will actively practice within the Rheumatology Division, providing exceptional clinical care and service to patients and referring providers while promoting participation in clinical trials.
• Develop a faculty development strategy that identifies individual faculty interests, strengths, and capabilities to foster successful program development and professional advancement.
• Engage in all aspects of faculty recruitment and retention.
• Contribute to the leadership team of the Department of Medicine to ensure the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
• Lead the academic initiatives of the Division.
• Support quality improvement efforts enthusiastically and ensure adherence to patient safety, risk management, and compliance programs.
• Provide education and mentorship to fellows, residents, and medical students.

• Possession of an M.D. or D.O. degree, ABIM board certification in Rheumatology, and an unrestricted medical license in Ohio.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience within an academic institution, having achieved at least the rank of Associate Professor.
• A defined clinical specialty with evidence of past involvement in scholarly and investigational activities.
• Strong leadership and management capabilities to enhance and develop a high-quality clinical service in an academic environment.
• Effective supervisory skills, including expertise in clinical mentoring and coaching.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences, whether in individual or group settings.

• Personal attributes of integrity, maturity, and compassion.
