Policy Specialist, Power Markets – OKC, OK Expand Energy – Oklahoma City, OK Job Summary This senior‑level position works with representatives in legal, marketing, corporate development, and other internal teams, as well as agency officials, under limited supervision to evaluate policy and regulatory developments that directly impact company strategy across energy markets. Strong knowledge in power market regulation and FERC processes enables the role to connect policy outcomes to commercial value and strategic positioning. Job Duties & Responsibilities Monitor and analyze federal and state regulatory developments affecting downstream energy markets. Advise internal teams on policy and regulatory risk, opportunities, and strategic implications. Collaborate cross‑functionally with commercial, legal, and operational teams to ensure alignment on policy developments and translate policy outcomes into actionable guidance. Support the development and execution of advocacy strategies and policy positions. Engage on gas‑electric coordination issues by monitoring and participating in relevant proceedings to assess implications for natural gas supply, infrastructure access, and system reliability. Act as a liaison between upstream operational teams and power/utility‑related stakeholders to ensure integrated solutions for regulatory, permitting and market‑related issues. Engage with regulatory agencies such as FERC, NERC, state public utility commissions, and other related organizations to represent company interests. Represent the company in industry associations, regulatory meetings, and public forums. May involve some travel, mostly U.S. domestic. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specific Skills Demonstrated ability to identify and achieve strategic objectives. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and policy issues for diverse audiences. Advanced knowledge of trade and technical terminology while understanding oil and gas operations, drilling, geology, and land functions. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with various federal and state governmental agencies and staff. Demonstrated experience interacting with federal and state regulatory agencies, particularly FERC. Advanced knowledge of laws, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, oil and gas law, permitting and compliance requirements. Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines. Education Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, or related field. Experience Minimum: 8 years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with experience in downstream markets such as utilities.
