Assistant Coach, High School Cross Country The Academy is currently hiring an Assistant Coach, High School Cross Country.

SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a safe and secure school environment, fostering an optimal learning environment, and acting as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by patrolling the field, monitoring student behavior, enforcing school, district, and CHSAA policies, intervening in physical encounters, monitoring visitors, reporting unsafe or unhealthy conditions, and assisting administrators and/or public officials with emergency or investigative situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enforce The Academy, District and CHSAA regulations and policies, and act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by providing high visibility walking and surveying common areas, grounds and parking lots. Monitor student behavior for infractions of safety regulations, weapons, tobacco, and substance abuse rules. Discuss or mediate infractions with students; provide written accounts of unacceptable behavior or incidents to Athletic Director. Communicate results of disciplinary processes to parents and meet with parents and students when required by disciplinary procedures and outcomes. Monitor students inside and outside of the building. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge and experience with coaching.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Criminal background check required for hire. Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications. One year registered CHSAA or PERM Coach certification. Current CHSAA certifications required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Knowledgeable in sport. Common sense, problem solving, mediation skills and mature attitude. Ability to respond to hostile situations and intervene in physical altercations. Ability to work with large groups of students, including students with special needs. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Authorizer policies and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE

Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. Operating knowledge of information technology systems and other department specific software and equipment required within 2 months after entering the position.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the behavior and safety of students on school grounds.

REPORTS TO

Athletic Director and Head Athletic Coach.

INCOME & BENEFITS

Stipend $3,600.00 paid August – November 2026. PERA retirement benefits.
