Senior Underwriter, Middle Market

Our Middle Market Underwriting team offers diverse multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals such as real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology, and manufacturing. Location: This position will be based out of our Conshohocken, PA or Morristown, NJ office. Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you’ll be doing: Demonstrate technical expertise and product knowledge in Middle Market P&C Insurance (Property, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Automobile, Umbrella) Use all appropriate underwriting tools, disciplines, and knowledge of strategies to ensure underwriting guidelines are followed Exhibits technical underwriting skills through strategic, thorough account reviews and file documentation Prepares or analyzes information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status, and declinations to drive results within the assigned territory Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, serving as the primary underwriting resource and point of contact Attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners, and other social outings as applicable and willingness to travel to aggressively market assigned territory What you’ll bring: Minimum 3 years of underwriting authority/insurance experience Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Experience in working, producing, and underwriting all sizes of accounts with large brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers Experience of successfully underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable business Established relationships with brokers and agents on both a regional and national level. Strong negotiation skills, Strong attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communication skills Willingness to travel monthly for broker engagements; occasional overnight travel may be required Team player with grit, and collaborative by nature Salary Range: $100,000 -$170,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
