Admitting-Discharge Manager
We are seeking an experienced Admitting-Discharge Manager to oversee Patient Access Services (PAS), including Admitting, Discharge, Referrals, Authorizations, and Scheduling. This role is responsible for leading teams, improving processes, ensuring compliance, and driving high-quality patient access operations in a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of Admitting, Discharge, Referrals, Authorizations, and Scheduling
- Manage and support Admitting/Discharge Supervisors and staff
- Resolve insurance, billing, and coding-related issues
- Address and resolve patient complaints professionally and efficiently
- Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and quality assurance practices
- Track and report on KPIs and operational performance metrics
- Serve as a liaison between departments to improve workflow and communication
- Lead strategic planning and process improvement initiatives
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5+ years of Admitting/Discharge supervisory experience in a hospital or physician office setting
- Experience with scheduling, referrals, and patient access operations
- Prior experience in a salaried (FLSA-exempt) leadership role
Systems
- Proficient with EPIC and UKG Kronos Workforce
Additional Requirements
- 1+ year Emergency Department experience (Trauma, Adult, and/or Pediatrics)
- 1+ year Main Admitting experience (hospital, ASU, or outpatient departments)
- Experience managing multiple schedules and teams
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of Admitting and discharge workflows, insurance verification, authorizations, and payer requirements, medical terminology, and basic coding principles
- Ability to lead teams and manage performance, resolve complex patient access and admitting issues, deliver excellent customer service, analyze data and improve operational efficiency, communicate effectively across teams and departments
Work Environment
- Hospital-based office setting
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use
- Light lifting (up to 10 lbs)
