RN Operating Room

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room (OR) provides comprehensive nursing care in collaboration with the healthcare team, focusing on patient and family education, assessment, and appropriate interventions. This role requires sound clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, variable day shift environment with on-call responsibilities. The nurse ensures quality nursing practice, promotes patient safety, and integrates ethical and evidence-based standards into care delivery. Responsibilities:

• Collect comprehensive patient data and perform thorough assessments.
• Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and patient needs.
• Develop individualized plans of care with expected outcomes.
• Implement nursing interventions and strategies to promote health and safety.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care and make necessary adjustments.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Provide patient and family education related to care and procedures.
• Maintain professional practice standards and adhere to relevant statutes and regulations.
• Participate in professional development and contribute to peer education.
• Integrate research findings and ethical considerations into nursing practice.
• Provide leadership within the professional practice setting.
• Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols related to stroke care.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Active Registered Nurse license in Montana.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum of 18 months of Registered Nurse experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy and stressful environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
• At least 1 year of circulating experience in the OR.
• At least 1 year of scrub experience in the OR.
• Stroke competency with participation in cerebrovascular disease education.

• Variable day shift with on-call responsibilities requiring flexibility to cover all shifts.
• Must maintain confidentiality, professional demeanor, and exercise tact and discretion.
• Ability to work varied shifts and respond to emergent situations in the OR.
• Compliance with hospital policies and stroke care protocols.

Scheduling:

• Variable day shifts with call coverage as needed to ensure continuous patient care.
• Shift assignments may vary to provide flexibility and coverage across all scheduled hours.
