St. Mary's General Hospital is a 293 bed, acute care hospital that offers a broad range of cardiovascular services as well as cancer care, maternal-child health, and outpatient behavioral health services. St. Mary's is a member of Prime Healthcare System, which has been recognized by Truven Health Analytics as a "Top 15 Healthcare System." Awards include Coronary Interventional Excellence, a Leapfrog safety grade "A" for 7 consecutive periods, and American Heart Association's "Get with the Guidelines" Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award winner, Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award Winner, and Stroke Honor Roll Award Winner.

Case Assignments include cardiac cases with a mix of general. No peds, no trauma.

Shifts are M-F with low utilization of call requirement. Team leadership is led by Dr. Harish Nandigam, Chief Anesthesiologist. The team highlights an MD only model with an Anesthesiology Residency Program.

Responsibilities include assisting in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department, responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures, pre-anesthesia assessment, obtaining and/or verifying patient consent, discussing anesthetic options and risks with the patient, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, monitoring of the patient's physiological condition, and performance of clinical intervention as needed.

Requirements include an M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine, ECFMG and FLEX, completion of approved residency in anesthesia, completion of approved Cardiac Fellowship, and currently licensed as a physician.
