Yoga Instructor @ Richmond Parkway YMCA

Description We are seeking an energetic, outgoing yoga instructor to provide yoga instruction and personal attention to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment. Our fitness staff works with a diverse population every day to promote health and wellness and support the fitness goals of all our members.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role involves teaching yoga classes to members, aligned with the Goals, Policies, and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide engaging yoga instruction to members of all fitness levels in group classes and workshops. Instruct members on the safe use of all equipment and workouts. Assist in designing yoga programs and workshops. Greet members and ensure quality member service. Maintain effective communication with supervisors, members, staff, and volunteers. Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all fitness facility equipment and spaces. Record necessary information accurately. Respond promptly to emergencies. Adhere to Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Perform all skills required of a Yoga Instructor; reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities. Possess sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and respond to emergencies. Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Maintain visual awareness of activities. Communicate effectively and project instructions clearly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified in yoga instruction from an accredited organization. Knowledge of various yoga and meditation philosophies and backgrounds. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (e.g., Red Cross, American Heart Association). Ability to design and teach programs using props and equipment. Completion of YMCA safety certifications within 60 days of hire. Ability to relate effectively to diverse populations. At least 18 years of age. Licenses & Certifications Preferred: Yoga certification, CPR certification. Equal Opportunity Employer.
