Outside Machinist Shipyard Mechanical Systems
Aerotek is looking for Outside Machinists for the Newport News shipyard with 1-3 years of experience. Pay is based off experience and you must be open to any shift.
What You'll Do
- Install, repair, and test mechanical systems on naval vessels
- Support major shipyard projects within the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) program
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings for chill water, ventilation, and steam systems
- Perform system inspections and testing, including flange/fitting checks and hydrostatic testing
- Identify, assess, and repair corrosion on shipboard piping and mechanical components
- Replace or repair flow regulators, solenoids, temperature-regulating valves, and isolation valves
- Troubleshoot and repair ventilation systems, including cooling coils, heaters, and duct components
- Work closely with mechanics and engineers to complete shipboard repairs
- Mentor and train coworkers and customers on proper repair and testing procedures

This is a contract position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
