Attorney

Responsibilities Work with General Counsel on all legal matters. Provide legal counsel, advice, and representation to staff. Review and provide interpretation on complex, important or highly technical laws, rules, or regulations. Assess risk and recommend solutions on all assigned cases. Conduct legal research/investigation and demonstrate effective and persuasive legal writing and presentation skills. Draft motions, briefs, and other file documents. Conduct all facets of litigation. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to provide accurate and effective legal counsel. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and law degree required. 5 years of legal experience with demonstrated successful municipal litigation practice, 5-7 years of legal experience with at least 2 years with a governmental entity or significant representation of government entities highly preferred. New York State Law License is required, admission to federal court bar Eastern District of New York preferred. Working knowledge of several areas of law required including municipal, environmental, real estate, contract, civil procedure, and labor laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks is essential.
