Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery - 36 Hours - Midnights

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides exceptional, compassionate patient care within a dynamic healthcare environment. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses patient needs, develops individualized care plans, implements interventions, and evaluates outcomes. The RN collaborates effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and promote a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.

• Assess patient conditions, develop comprehensive care plans, and implement interventions based on evidence-based practices.

• Evaluate patient outcomes and make necessary adjustments to the care plan.

• Provide patient and family education to promote self-management and prevent complications.

• Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their safety and well-being.

Team Leadership:

• Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists.

• Delegate tasks appropriately and provide clear guidance to assistive personnel.

• Create a positive and supportive work environment that fosters teamwork and professional development.

• Participate in shared governance initiatives to improve nursing practice.

Quality and Safety:

• Adhere to regulatory standards and best practices for patient care, safety, and documentation.

• Identify and address potential risks to patient safety and quality of care.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Professional Development:

• Engage in ongoing professional development and education to maintain current knowledge and skills.

• Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and students.

• Contribute to a positive workplace culture that values respect, collaboration, and learning.

Community Engagement:

• Participate in community activities and professional organizations to represent Henry Ford Health and promote the nursing profession.

• Foster a positive image of nursing through personal actions and interactions.

Financial Awareness:

• Understand the financial implications of decisions and actions related to patient care.

• Utilize resources efficiently and effectively to minimize costs while maintaining high-quality care.

• LDRP model with a Special Care Nursery

• Expansive OB and Midwife delivery models

• Unit focuses on physiologic birth, shared decision making, and evidence-based practice

• Collaborative, interdisciplinary culture with high level nursing autonomy

• Supportive leadership, experienced preceptors, and a commitment to professional growth

Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required

• Looking for someone with at least 2 years of L&D experience
