Position Title: EVS TECH 2/ FLOOR TECH FT/ DAYS Location: Knoxville, TN Req ID: JR100607 Job Type: Full time Description: GREAT SHIFT DIFFS! $15/HR MINIMUM! BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB Responsible for meeting setups, floor maintenance, trash/linen/regulated medical waste transportation. REPORTS TO Supervisor - Environmental Services JOB REQUIREMENTS Supervisory Responsibilities: NO Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED Degree: General License/Certification Required: None Minimum Work Experience: Related experience preferred REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to read and follow instructions. Must meet demands of an active position. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Uses approved equipment such as an automatic floor machine, burnisher and extractor to clean floors/carpets and clean up floods. Removes and labels hospital waste into appropriate receptacles including bio/hazardous waste and chemo waste. Assists with conference room set-ups and periodically assists in moving furniture/boxes. Sweeps and damp mops all of the stairways routinely and vacuums and damp mops all elevators routinely. Using appropriate cleaning techniques, chemicals and personal protective equipment, disinfects patient rooms, core areas and/or office, including dusting, replacing trash and linen liners, restocking supplies, and promptly reporting maintenance needs. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe role responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. Maintains work area and equipment in the condition required by department standards. Responsibly follows the hospital exposure control plans Demonstrates an understanding and willingness that environmental care is an important part of the delivery of care and service to Dolly Parton Children's Hospital. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment and interacts with people in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner. Completes work assignments on time, and makes the transition to the next staff member smooth and efficient, and willingly accepts any other assignments that may be requested, including flexibility when interrupted before finishing their current work assignment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. Works efficiently and proactively informing EVS leadership of obstacles or issues that will impact meeting their work goals promptly. Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably. Continuously displays a "can-do" attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer services program in place at the hospital. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting, squatting, reaching, and standing are required.
