Job SummaryWe aren’t looking for a "cubicle-only" engineer. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will be the primary technical counterpart to our production floor—serving as the bridge between high-level engineering concepts and physical, flight-ready hardware.We work across diverse tech branches, so if you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, you’ll love it here. You need to be as comfortable building rapid prototypes and troubleshooting on the shop floor as you are releasing clean 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.Essential Job Functions•\tCreate precise 3D digital models and release 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Manage assemblies, configuration control, and Indented Bills of Materials (BOMs).•\tWork hand-in-hand with technicians and machinists to apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) principles, ensuring new concepts are practical and efficient to build.•\tPerform worst-case tolerance stack-up analyses and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T per ASME Y14.5) to ensure proper part fit and interchangeability. •\tProcure components, fabricate prototype assemblies, and support environmental qualification testing (shock, vibration, thermal) to validate hardware against real-world conditions.•\tPerform hand calculations and baseline Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate structural and thermal performance prior to physical testing.•\tParticipate in Configuration Control Boards (CCB) and Material Review Boards (MRB). Assist with root-cause analysis on non-conformances (CAPA/NCRs) to continuously improve product quality.Education and Work Experience Requirements•\tBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.•\t3–5 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of electro-mechanical hardware, aerospace components, or ruggedized enclosures.•\tExperience with SOLIDWORKS or other 3D computer-aided design and engineering software and PDM/PLM systems (e.g.PDXpert)Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics•\tExcellent analytical skills with a methodical approach to breaking down mechanical issues, prioritizing fixes, and implementing practical solutions.•\tUnderstanding of packaging electronics, cable harnesses, and printed circuit board (PCB) mounting requirements.•\tPractical experience with 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS), basic machining, and sheet metal fabrication techniques.•\tStrong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable adapting quickly in an agile hardware environment where requirements evolve.Nice to Have•\tExposure to environmental testing standards (such as DO-160 or MIL-STD-810).•\tFamiliarity with IPC standards for cable assemblies (IPC-A-620) or electronic assemblies (IPC-A-610).•\tExperience participating in structured safety reviews (DFMEA/PFMEA).Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in an office environment.
