About The Role We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer (m/w/d) SAS Base to join our team in Hamburg. In this role, you will manage and expand our proprietary Data Warehouse, ensuring the seamless extraction, transformation, and loading of data for analytical and reporting purposes. You will support the automation of data workflows using Base SAS, enabling timely and accurate reporting aligned with business needs. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of digital transformation within a reputable insurance and financial services company, contributing significantly to our data‑driven decision‑making processes. Qualifications The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or possess equivalent vocational training with an agile mindset. You should have proven experience in data warehousing and application development, with a strong command of SAS programming. Knowledge of database systems such as DB2 or other SQL‑based platforms is essential. Additional skills in Linux, TSO, JCL, and TWS are desirable but not mandatory. You should demonstrate a structured, independent, and results‑oriented work style, complemented by excellent communication skills in German, both written and spoken. Digital competence and a proactive approach to learning new technologies are vital for success in this role. Responsibilities Operate and expand the company's self‑developed Data Warehouse infrastructure to meet evolving business requirements. Automate data extraction, loading, and reporting processes utilizing Base SAS to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of data models and supporting tools, ensuring scalability and robustness. Perform detailed analyses based on departmental needs using SAS Enterprise Guide, delivering actionable insights. Provide ongoing support, consultation, and training to business units on data warehouse functionalities and best practices. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement new data solutions and optimize existing systems. Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, models, and workflows to support transparency and knowledge sharing.
