Lead Custodian (2nd shift) position beginning on July 1, 2026 at Souderton Area High School.

POSITION TITLE : LEAD CUSTODIAN

REPORTS TO : BUILDING FACILITIES MANAGER

WORK YEAR : 12 Month (July 1 through June 30)

JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTABILITY : To assist the Building Facilities Manager in maintaining the physical school plant and grounds. Assist in maintaining all classrooms, offices, bathrooms and public areas within the building in a clean and safe manner.

QUALIFICATIONS : High school diploma or GED; supervisory experience preferred; previous school or public building cleaning desirable; must be able to provide needed services with a positive, customer oriented attitude; possess physical stamina to perform adequately the duties assigned.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assist the Building Facilities Manager in supervising and evaluating the performance of all custodians assigned to second and third shift at the senior high school.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies that are utilized within the facility.
  • Participate in the training of the custodial staff assigned to the facility.
  • Know procedures associated with setting up the necessary facilities for all athletic events and extracurricular activities.
  • Have a working knowledge of the heating/air conditioning system within the building and be able to maintain the system in the absence of the Building Facilities Manager.
  • Keep storage rooms clean and efficiently organized.
  • Know building security procedures associated with evening activities.
  • Check boilers and mechanical equipment every two hours. Record data.
  • Take reading on pool water two times during the shift, record and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Facilities Manager, building principal or Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
