Description

The Memphis Sports & Events Center features indoor basketball and volleyball courts and is adaptable for other sports like wrestling, gymnastics, cheerleading, futsal, and more, as well as convocation, and commencement events. The Center also includes two cafe and a concessions areas while also offering catering and high volume boxed meals.

POP is seeking additional Stewards to assist in the daily food service preparations and sanitation for the food and beverage areas.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes, and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.
• Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.
• Assist with set-up and breakdown of all Banquet buffets.
• Facilitating all plate-up and delivery of all food the prospective functions
• Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift.
• Properly washes, stacks, and stores China, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers.
• Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours, or more often as required by business levels, and properly uses chemical dilutions set by EcoLab.
• Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries.
• Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift.
• Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves.
• Assist with maintaining and organizing the China room and warehouse.
• Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties.
• Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward is preferred, experience in customer service role is preferred.
• High school diploma of GED
• ServSafe Certified preferred.

• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Ability to follow directions and work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
• Must be a phenomenal team-player and self-motivated with a high energy level.

Work Environment

This position will report to and work out of the Memphis Sports & Event Center. This position will spend majority of time in the kitchen and dish pit area where there will be hot water, chemicals, and typical kitchen equipment and utensils.

Uniform Requirements

Adherence to Company Uniform Requirements outlined in the Associate Handbook, uniform requirements outlined in your orientation guidelines.

Non-slip shoes are necessary.

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of moving through kitchen, coolers, and storage spaces.
• Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives.
• Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.
• Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
• Ability to perform physical tasks; such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
