Senior Tax Accountant

Oxford Solutions is working with a small tax and accounting office seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to support an established book of business. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a hands-on tax professional who is comfortable working directly with clients, managing complex tax work, and helping keep day-to-day tax operations moving efficiently.

This role is a strong fit for someone with public accounting tax experience who enjoys a smaller office environment, has strong technical tax knowledge, and can take ownership of both client service and workflow management.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, and corporate tax returns
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide tax guidance
• Support an existing book of business with a focus on accuracy, responsiveness, and client service
• Research and resolve federal and state tax matters, including IRS and state tax agency notices
• Assist with tax planning, compliance, and issue resolution for individuals and businesses
• Manage workflow during tax season and help ensure deadlines are met
• Review client documents and identify potential tax concerns, missing information, or planning opportunities
• Serve as a technical tax resource for the office and support overall tax operations

Qualifications:

• 6 to 15+ years of public accounting tax experience
• CPA and/or EA designation preferred
• Strong experience with individual, partnership, S corporation, and corporate taxation
• Experience working with IRS and state tax matters, notices, and correspondence
• Ability to prepare and manage complex tax returns with limited oversight
• Comfortable communicating directly with clients in a professional and consultative manner
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Experience working in a small tax preparation or public accounting office environment preferred
