Teacher/Football Coach – 2nd Sport/Special Education Inclusion (MHS) – JobID: 4030 Position Type Professional – Teacher Level (Secondary)/ Secondary Teacher Teacher Compensation Plan Shift Type: Full-Time Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Reports To: Principal Employment Begins: As soon as possible Primary Purpose To provide instruction and assistance necessary to enable all children to achieve and function successfully in the least restrictive environment. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree Special Education Certificate Special Knowledge/Skills Understanding of various disabilities and special education law. Skills to assist in remediation of various disabilities. Excellent communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the MISD. Knowledge of the change process, organizational development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills. Experience None Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable. Major Responsibilities and Duties Teach children with learning impairments to function in the regular classroom with modifications. Plan programs of study that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Attend Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings. Develop and update the individual education plan for students. Work in collaboration with classroom teacher(s) involved with these students to formulate teaching strategies, plan appropriate lessons, and evaluate student progress. Reveal confidential information concerning students only when disclosure serves professional purposes or is required by law. Other School Health and Related Services (SHARS) duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
