You will be part of our rapidly expanding Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines. The division is a multi‑faced, leading‑edge part of Kiewit focused on the design‑build delivery of infrastructure projects. District Overview Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering’s Design‑Build team drives clients to choose Kiewit for all stages of design‑build projects. Through an integrated design and construction approach, our multi‑disciplinary team collaborates to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our construction‑focused engineers work with estimators and builders to design innovative, constructible, and safety‑focused solutions, and our proven processes and tools help minimize project risk. Work is shared across projects, fostering best practices and innovation. Location This position will be based in our Raleigh, NC office. Responsibilities Contribute to engineering and CADD teams in developing preliminary and final plans and details Identify and understand the technical requirements of high‑risk projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions Identify, interpret, and apply appropriate design standards and codes; ensure compliance with contract documents Participate in technical meetings and discussions, and strategize solutions to complex or unique technical problems Identify and implement new technologies that provide a competitive advantage Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Kiewit and/or project‑specific Quality Management plans Qualifications Master’s degree or greater in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering 0–2 years experience in relevant structural engineering design 0–2 years experience in engineering plan production and preparation of engineering calculations, with strong familiarity with current tools/programs/software and CADD practice Strong all‑around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, and knowledge of staged construction analysis Preferred experience with engineering design software such as LUSAS, SOFiSTiK, MIDAS, etc. Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, CAN/CSA S‑6, and other North American design codes Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team environment Ability to travel as business requires Other Requirements Work productively and meet deadlines timely Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment Perform work safely and effectively.
