Our StorySharyland Water Supply Corporation was established in May of 1968 for the purpose of providing safe, affordable drinking water to the rural communities in and around Mission, McAllen, and Edinburg. We continue to strive in that endeavor.Sharyland Water Supply Corporation was created by a group of determined, community-minded men in the 1960's. With the help of Farmers Home Administration, a loan was acquired and construction began to build a rural water system. Initially, 700 property owners committed to take water service once construction was complete. Today, more than 50 years later, there are over 19,000 water connections on the system.The Corporation has approximately 100 square miles of Certified Area, 800 miles of water lines, three water plants, four elevated storage tanks and plans for additional water system improvements in the works.The Corporation has over 100 employees and a 7 person Board of Directors, all of whom are dedicated to the job required to ensure that Sharyland Water Supply Corporation continues to be the best it can be.The RoleAs Head Cashier, you’ll provide senior-level ownership of daily cash controls and customer payment accuracy—protecting the integrity of Sharyland’s front counter operations. This role exists to ensure deposits, change funds, and cashier workflows are consistently correct, timely, and audit-ready.Key responsibilities include overseeing daily collection and distribution of monies; confirming staff change levels; validating transactions and daily deposits; guiding cashier clerk personnel; supporting the Front Office Supervisor with training, development, and scheduling for dependable coverage; receiving customer payments and addressing account inquiries; and assisting with tampering and damage letters and other assigned duties.Required skills and qualifications:- Strong time management, punctuality, and dependability- Customer/client focus with sound problem-solving and analysis- Leadership and coaching ability; some supervisory responsibility- Task-oriented, able to work independently, and flexible with schedule- Strict adherence to procedures and processes- General office equipment knowledge; 10-key calculator proficiencyApply today to bring your accuracy, leadership, and customer focus to our front office team.Total RewardsSharyland Water Supply offers a competitive total compensation package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; 401(k); Life Insurance; Paid Time Off; and Supplemental Insurance.A Day at the CounterYour morning starts by getting the front counter set for smooth service—cash drawers balanced, change ready, and the team aligned on coverage. Throughout the day, you stay close to the flow of payments and customer questions, stepping in when an issue needs a steady hand or a quick decision. You’ll coordinate with the Front Office Supervisor as priorities shift, keep documentation moving, and ensure the day’s financial activity is cleanly wrapped up. Before you leave, you’ve helped the team stay on pace, kept service professional, and ensured the day closes out with confidence and clarity.
