4-H Program Assistant

Sevier County 4-H Assistant Coordinator The Sevier County 4-H Assistant Coordinator is a 25-hour-per-week position that works alongside the County 4-H Coordinator to support the needs and priorities of the Sevier County 4-H program. The position provides flexible support across county programs, with current responsibilities including youth leadership, Teen Council, Youth Leadership Team, Junior Teen Council, countywide communication and marketing, grant and budget management, volunteer and club fundraising support, and regional 4-H activities. The assistant will help youth develop leadership and offer mentorship for youth activities while also providing reliable support to the County 4-H Coordinator in areas where additional assistance is needed. Responsibilities may shift as program needs and priorities change, with the Coordinator providing overall direction and oversight while working collaboratively with the assistant to determine how their time can best support the county program. The assistant may also provide support for state, national, and other special events as time and program needs allow. The 4-H Coordinator will work with the assistant to determine when this support fits within the position's priorities and maximum 25-hour workweek while ensuring that core county responsibilities remain covered. Responsibilities Program Support & Operations Support daily operations and county program needs. Adapt to changing program priorities and responsibilities. Provide reliable assistance to the County 4-H Coordinator. Help maintain well-organized and positive youth experiences. Contribute to building a sustainable and growing county 4-H program. Youth Leadership Development Strengthen youth leadership programs and activities. Create meaningful opportunities for youth growth and development. Encourage leadership, responsibility, and engagement among participants. Support the overall positive youth development mission of 4-H. Partnership & Team Collaboration Operate as part of a collaborative team with the County 4-H Coordinator. Take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Receive and apply direction, support, and oversight from the Coordinator. Communicate regularly regarding program needs, priorities, and workload. Communication & Volunteer Support Maintain effective communication with youth, families, volunteers, and program partners. Support volunteers in carrying out program activities. Contribute to creating a welcoming and well-coordinated program environment. Resource & Administrative Management Support the responsible use of program resources. Help ensure activities and events are well organized. Assist with administrative and logistical needs as assigned. Focus efforts on activities that have the greatest impact on the program. Workload Management & Prioritization Work within the 25-hour-per-week maximum schedule. Communicate proactively when workload demands exceed available hours. Collaborate with the County 4-H Coordinator to prioritize work. Identify tasks that should be postponed, delegated, or rescheduled. Maintain focus on the highest-priority needs of the program. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Valid driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials. Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work site Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing. Work may occur in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoor Working Conditions: When working indoors, employees are generally protected from weather conditions. Work is performed in office, event, or public spaces. Protected from rain, snow, and other weather elements. May still experience temperature variations within indoor spaces. May sit for extended periods of time. Frequent use of computers and repetitive hand motions such as typing. Outdoor Working Conditions: When working outdoors, employees may be exposed to environmental conditions. May work in varying weather conditions. Exposure to extreme heat and cold may occur. Outdoor activities may involve events, programs, and youth activities. Employees may be required to remain outdoors for extended periods. Physical Requirements: This position requires moderate physical activity to support program operations.
